MILFORD HAVEN GOLF CLUB SENIORS OPEN DAY 2019
On Tuesday 30TH July the Milford Haven golf club senior section held a very successful open day when a total of 105 members and guests took part; this number was greatly reduced because of the weather forecast given out over the weekend including late on the Monday giving heavy rain and thunder which never materialized. As it was it turned out to be an enjoyable day with sunshine and no rain whatsoever for the whole of the days golf. It was still a bit disappointing that some members and visitors never turned up without informing the pro-shop that they would not be playing.
The day was well attended by players from most of the Dyfed clubs and with players from further afield.
The format for this year’s open was a stableford competition with a maximum handicap of 28 ; there was a prize for the Overall winner for the De- Valca Shield with four prizes for the Visitors and four prizes for the Members; with prizes for the nearest the pin on 6th & 16th holes and nearest the pin second shot on 9th hole.
The overall winner on the day was Milford member Mark Davies with an excellent score of 43 points; with Peter Taylor picking up the members first prize with 40 points and Peter Ashley Jones winning the visitors first prize also with 40 points winning on the back six score from R Hayward who was out first in the morning and held the lead until the last card of the day came in.
The seniors captain Chris Harding carried out the presentation thanking the head green keeper Kevin and his green staff for the excellent condition of the course; to Elliot club-pro for taking the bookings and issuing the cards; Lucy for preparing the food all day and to Sarah and Gaby serving some excellent beer; not forgetting Roy John and Alan John; Brian Keen in checking the cards for the results and to Owain Picton who did most of the organising of the open day starting back in January.

A real gem of a golf course and a very friendly welcome too. The course makes great use of the topography, thoughtfully designed and challenging even for lower handicaps. Quite a few holes where course knowledge a definite advantage. Highly recommend a visit.Google April 2019

Excellent golf course with great practice facilities, the course was in brilliant condition and the new 18th hole is a great closing hole. The pro Elliott, Bar and club members are friendly before and after your round. Food and beers are excellent value with the food being great quality. We had Sunday lunch the 3 courses were fantastic, piping hot and full of flavour. We will be returning and recommending to friends.
